Letting God Use You”
By Joshua Tigro
“Before
I formed you in the womb I knew you (or ‘chose you’ as my
Bible says), before you were born I set you apart; I
appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
Many times we (even teens) think God can’t use
us to do certain things for certain reasons. Maybe we don’t
even believe some of those reasons, and we’re just using
them as excuses to stay in our own little “comfort zone.”
You may say “Oh but you don’t know me or what I’ve done”,
but I don’t have to. Because God knows you better than
anyone, He created you, and yet He still chose you! He’s
not ashamed of you in any way, don’t be ashamed of him! In
2 Timothy 1:8 Paul tells young Timothy “Do not be ashamed to
testify about our Lord.” He goes on to say in verse 12, “I
am not ashamed (of the gospel), because I know who I have
believed (meaning Jesus). Paul knew who he was doing all
this for, he knew Jesus loved him unconditionally. He knew
Jesus had saved him, and willingly laid down His life for
him. So it was with joy that her served God by spreading
the gospel and being a light to others. Jesus died for you
and loves you more than anyone else!!! Is that something to
be embarrassed or ashamed about? Maybe you’re just afraid
of what people might say (I know I have been). But just
like Paul, we need to remember who we’re doing it for!!
Now to all you young people, everyone has gifts
and talents that God has given them. Maybe you don’t even
know what some of them are yet, but you know you’re good at
something. I want to go back to Jeremiah the first
chapter. Young Jeremiah answers God in verse 6 by saying
“Ah Sovereign Lord, I don not know how to speak; I am only a
child.” God answers by telling Jeremiah that He will be
with him and give him the words to speak. You see, it’s not
how good you are at something – whether it’s speaking,
singing, or whatever the case may be – it’s your heart, and
allowing God to use that gift to bless and encourage
others! So do not say “I am only a child” or “I am just a
teenager”, because as my Mom often tells me, “You don’t
start fulfilling your purpose when you’re and adult, your
calling starts now!!!”
Again, I encourage you young
(and not quite as young) people to see God for yourself and
find out what he wants for you. Your gifts and talents
aren’t just meant to look good in front of people – they’re
to be used for Him! Remember, when you use your gifts and
talents fro Christ, that’s when He can use you to the full
potential he has for you! Because the talents you were
originally designed to be used for his purpose!!! May God
Use and Bless you!!! |
